A Brief History of Babbit and JKS

It all started in 1955…

In 1955, J. Proby Sessions joined Jordan and Kaiser, adding not only his own expertise as an engineer and surveyor but bringing with him the historically important work of Charles W. Babbitt and his son, John Walter Babbitt, dating to the 1850s.

Charles W. Babbit graduated from Princeton before joining the Confederate Army. After the Civil War, he began surveying the Miss-Lou hand-drawing maps and keeping field diaries of his notes.

JKS is honored and proud to archive Babbit's field diaries and original maps. Below are photos of some of the diaries and hand drawn maps stored and displayed in the office of JKS.
